I have designed & made things my whole life, it gives me a wonderful sense of fulfilment, a life without making art is no life for me at all. I returned to college after a variety of jobs - trainee architectural technician, costume maker, trainee graphic designer. I attended the ‘Combined Studies in Crafts’ course at Crewe and Alsager college where I specialised in wood & metal to create furniture. I graduated in 1990 and have continued to develop my work ever since. I started out making small wooden items such as boxes, mirrors, clocks & cabinets. Often incorporating materials such as metal glass & stone in the designs.
In 1996 I started to get involved with large scale public artworks - sculpture, gates, railings, seating & signage. I designed them, subcontracted out the manufacture, & project managed. Throughout my career I have taught woodwork, art & craft based workshops to all ages & abilities, as well as taking part in longer term residencies.
Due to funding cut backs, recessions, joint & back problems I have had to change my practice, my work is now divided between two main areas: -
I have been based at 36 Lime Street Studios for over 20 years. The building houses over 40 artists, musicians, performers & is located in the Ouseburn Valley, Newcastle upon Tyne. We host 2 open studio events a year, the first in spring & the second on the last weekend in November. This is a unique chance for you to visit the building. It used to be a Bonded Whiskey Warehouse which was designed by John Dobson. You can see artists in their own studios & buy work direct from them, or commission something special.

- I have a large range of botanical prints featuring flowers, plants, trees & landscapes, many inspired by the Northumberland countryside & further afield, my sisters wonderful garden & the plants & flowers that I am growing myself. I have just started painting Acrylic & Gold Leaf originals & exploring more mixed media techniques.
- My plaster cast plaques are made using plants, flowers & objects I find interesting. The process creates a 3D raised impressing with a huge amount of detail. I run workshops to show how to make them, if you are interested please contact me & I will let you put you on the mailing list to be informed when I release the next dates.
