During an engineering week at a primary school I ran several workshops making simple automata toys that used cams, rods, pulleys & levers to produce movement.

Education Action Zone Plaques
I worked with 18 schools in South Shields & Jarrow to create commemorative plaques for the EAZ. The children drew onto tiles which were then fired & put into a wooden frame. The centre section is printed onto stainless Steel.
Aunt Sallys
Working with a groups of teenage 'NEETS' (not in education, employment or training), we produced these large scale boards known as 'Aunt Sallys'. Theye are more commonly seen on piers, you stick your head through & have your photo taken. The group came up with their own ideas for the boards. They were mane from plywood with a frame at the back to allow them to stand up.

Tree Dressing
Tree dressing is the ancient & global art in which a community celebrate or commemorate something of importance to them by decorating a carefully selected tree & holding some kind of event nearby. Whether the tree is dressed with flags in Shropshire, rags in Ireland, fruit in India, red ribbons in Turkey, clothes & jewellery in Siberia or bottles in the South of France it is both a visually striking & memorable event.
Containers were made from card & collage materials, obj ects collected on walks were placed inside the container. These were hung from a tree in the Ouseburn Valley.
