Flower seeds are tiny miracles of nature, so unassuming they create the most beautiful flowers, which provide such joy. Their lifecycle produces a second miracle that is their seed heads, again beautiful but completely different. I have attempted to capture part of that life cycle in this artwork
The Teasel seed head was given to me by a friend who collected several of them on a walk. However this year some mysteriously started to grow in my garden. I photographed the seed head & created a silhouette. Setting it against a stunning panel of imitation Gold Leaf shows just how precious the seeds are. The very complex & intriguing background was created with multiple layers of colour & texture to represent the journey from seed to flower.
Applying the Imitation Gold leaf by hand makes every print unique. The process takes several days & involves multiple stages. This is a Limited Edition of 200

Imitation gold Leaf looks very similar but is actually made from Brass

Printed on 312g Smooth Fine Art archival paper, & archival inks that will not fade for up to 75 years, the colours are rich & deep. Imitation Gold Metal Leaf or 23.75ct Real Gold leaf & Acetate. Avoid placing in direct sunlight. Please avoid touching the actual print before framing.
