Eco Centre 1996
The trellis was constructed from old clutch plates that were galvanised and powder coated. They were suspended by stainless steel wire which was attatched to battons made from recycled plastic which resembled wood. Tennis court netting provided a surface for the plants to grow up and keep
the building cool in summer. They die off in winter, letting the light in. The trellis surrounds the Eco Office in Jarrow, a building made from recycled materials as much as possible. A wind turbine generates electricity and there are composting toilets in the basement.
