Artwork Details
The idea for this artwork has been in my head for over 15 years, it was time to get it out of my head.
‘’I Gave You My Love’’ has several symbolic meanings depending on the viewer. A broken or failed relationship, unrequited love or loving someone from afar who may be unaware of your feelings. I have experienced them all.
The cupped hands, pushing their way out of the ornate Black frame, are baring the soul & offering the most precious & fragile emotion of Love. The blood Red Rose is recognized as the symbol for love, the fact that it will fade & die, petals falling is a very powerful visual metaphor.
The process of learning how to cast my own hands took a lot of research & several attempts before I got the outcome I wanted. The hands are made from a very hard Plaster, they are connected to the backboard of the frame with a nut and bolt as well as specialist glue. I searched for a very ornate frame & had to paint this one to get the effect I wanted as it was originally Gold. There are 2 heavy duty hangers on the back of the frame.
Size Height 53cm, Width 43cm, Depth 16cm
