'Subway To The South' 2011
After an initial consultation with members of the community centre, it
was decided that a sculptural seat would be sited at the bottom end of
East Howdon overlooking the River Tyne. Several community groups
have been involved with the project.
The ring in the design represents the community of East Howdon, with
the rods linking it to the rest of the world, as well as providing a backrest
& structural support. The text used on the seat uses the names of
various ports around the world that are linked to the River Tyne. The
lettering is laser cut & filled in white. The seat itself is powder
coated in blue to represent the River.
