I find that I am making more & more prints, influenced initially by the plaster cast plaques I make using plants & flowers, but also taking influence directly from nature. I use a combination of photography, digital manipulation, drawing & painting.
Giclee prints on 230 gms Archival matt paper, it gives a lovely velvety appearance with rich deep colours & reduces fading for up to 75 years. Avoid placing in direct sunlight. A4 prints will be posted in a hard back envelope. A3 prints will be sent rolled in a sturdy cardboard tube.

Autumn at Sycamore Gap

2020 - I first photographed the infamous tree in the summer, then suddenly decided that I would capture it in Autumn & Winter as well. So I returned to Sycamore Gap at the end of October & just caught the tree with some leaves still on. I plan to go back in December to catch it in its winter state. The images will form a set of 3 prints showing the tree throughout the seasons. It nestles beautifully in the dip of Hadrian's Wall. I have created the landscape with multiple layers of texture, colour & a pallet of rich, deep hues to bring the image to life. The print is available in 3 different colourways -

2020 - The Fennel & Sweet Peas are from my garden, I absolutely love the colour of the glass bottle they are displayed in & the way the water distorts the stems. This sits on an old French flower dictionary that I bought from a book sale many years ago. The ink & watercolour effect creates a lovely detailed piece of art. The paper used is 100% cotton rag fine art paper which has a soft grain texture that enhances the image.

The wooden tray was originally used to hold the different letters used when printing with a manual press. It has a lovely old patina & different size spaces for displaying some of my favourite things. This is a print & the actual tray is not for sale. I do plan to do other versions with different treasures which I have at my workshop.

The changing light of the sky never fails to amaze me. Dusk is a particularly inspiring time, with a vast pallet of colours to capture. I photographed these beautiful pine trees near Housesteads in Northumberland. The silhouette enhances the delicate lace effect of the intermingling branches. I have added layers of colour & texture to create this striking print.

I recently visited Hadrian's Wall in Northumberland & found this wonderful ridge of trees. The air was cold, crisp & very still, the late afternoon sunlight light just incredible. The light changed dramatically while I was there so I have created 2 different artworks - Tree Ridge 1 & 2, with very different backgrounds & colours. To this version 2 added a landscape of deep, rich Blues, Purples & Greens, creating layers of texture & colour. The artwork is a combination of photography & digital manipulation.

I became slightly obsessed with Norwegian wooden huts while on holiday there, they are so absolutely beautiful. This striking image shows a silhouette of a wooden hut nestled in a Pine forest at dusk, a tiny glimmer of light seen through the window gives a delightful comforting feel that someone is cosy & warm inside. The dramatic sky is depicted with bold brush strokes of Blues, Purples & Yellows.

My sister took me to see Stockton Bury Gardens in Leominster earlier this year, what a wonderful place to visit. As well as the planting there are old buildings with really interesting architectural details as in the print above. The beautiful old wooden door is set into a stone wall & overhung with foliage. I love the intrigue of not knowing what is behind the door & having to imagine it yourself. There are two colour variations available.

I love the way the delicate Laburnum flowers hang from the branches. The image was created using a combination of photography & digital manipulation, I actually took the photo last year, but have only got round to doing something with it now. The print is signed & comes framed or unframed, I decided to do 2 different views of the print. One showing the whole image & a narrow version which has been cropped. The A4 & A3 prints will fit into any standard frame. The narrow version is a non standard frame size. You can choose from 2 different colourways - A muddy Yellow with hints of pale pink. I photographed this tree at Christmas 2018 on 'Long Lane' when visiting my sister. Getting the sheep in the shot was an added bonus, I had to be quick though as they were wandering away from the tree. Winter trees have such an ethereal beauty, I am constantly looking for new ones. Whilst visiting my sister in Shropshire over Christmas I spent a couple of hours photographing a lovely church at Lydbury North. This print features one of their beautiful old windows. It was a cold dark day when I was there, but very peaceful in the church. I have tried to capture this with colours & textures to create this ethereal image. I am planning to do more work combining architecture with plants & flowers.

Some friends Gillian & Doug brought me a huge bunch or Teasel heads they had found on a walk ages ago, I've only just got round to using them in a piece of art. They work really well with the Hypericum berries, the foliage is a type of Eucalyptus I had both in my wedding bouquet.

This is easily the most beautiful tree I have photographed so far, the shape & proportions are just stunning. When I took the picture I didn't realise it had the two little birds sitting so perfectly on the exposed branch. It was only when I enlarged the photo on the computer that I spotted them!

The Grape Hyacinths came from my Mum & Dads garden, they are growing very well in my pots & will always remind me of them both, they were much better gardeners than I'll ever be. It must have skipped a generation as my younger sister Amanda is also a very keen gardener. The Chronodoxia is from Aunty Iris's garden, I have always called her Aunty I, she is now in her 80's & has one of these prints on her wall.
